Activity Funding Requests

Policy for Funding Activities led by CAIMS Members

CAIMS members are invited to submit funding requests to their activity groups when seeking support for workshops, conferences, or similar activities.

If the appropriate activity group no longer has funds, activity organisers may submit a funding request directly to CAIMS. Such funding requests will be satisfied on a funding-available basis and according to the following criteria:

  1. The topic of the activity must be sufficiently broad to warrant CAIMS support.
  2. Preference is given to activities that will use the funding to directly support students.
  3. The benefit to CAIMS must be clear.
  4. If the funding received is $1,000 or more, the organisers must agree to write a Special Issue proposal for the CAIMS journal, Mathematics in Science and Industry. For smaller funding amounts, the organisers must agree to write either a blog post, or a short highlight piece for the CAIMS E-News about the activity, to be submitted within 2 weeks of the end of the activity.

The Canadian Applied and Industrial Mathematics Society, which dates from 1979, has a growing presence in industrial, mathematical, scientific and technological circles within and outside of Canada.
