Through its ACCELERATE Canada:
Canadas Graduate Research Internship Program, MITACS is currently expanding
its mandate beyond the mathematical sciences to encompass all academic disciplines.
Scientific proposals submitted to the
ACCELERATE program undergo rigorous peer-review through a Scientific Review Board.

The Scientific Coordinator will report to the Director of Programs and provide support
for the ACCELERATE Canada peer?review process. Specific responsibilities include:

1. Work closely with the Scientific Review Board (SRB) to:
Manage membership and scientific scope of the College of Reviewers Ensure quality,
fairness and timeliness of the peer-review process Work closely with scientific and
business development staff to ensure clear communication of program requirements and
scientific standards Liaise with Administrative Coordinators to oversee the Travel
Subsidy Program

2. Maintain effective communication with the SRB Chair and Vice-Chair 3. Review final
internship reporting documents 4. Oversee the program evaluation process, including
metric identification, data collection methodology and data analysis 5. Work closely
with the Communications Department to publicize successful internships 6. Facilitate
communication between the scientific and business development staff 7. Prepare regular
reports on the ACCELERATE Program summarizing internship case studies 8. Other duties
as assigned from time to time


Minimum Masters degree and research experience, preferably in a mathematics, science
or engineering discipline
Self-starter who is comfortable working in a team setting
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to grasp topics in a wide range of academic disciplines
Ability to interpret and communicate science for lay audiences
Strong problem solving skills with excellent judgment
