The Department of Applied Mathematics has 30 faculty members,
whose research interests include scientific computing, control theory,
differential equations and dynamical systems, fluid dynamics,
mathematical biology and medicine, and mathematical physics.
The department has a substantial graduate program with
over 120 graduate students pursuing Masters or PhD degrees,

3. ICIAM Announces 2023 Prize Recipients

The International Council for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ICIAM)
has announced the winners of the six 2023 ICIAM prizes.
ICIAM is a worldwide organization for professional applied mathematics societies
and other associations with a significant interest in industrial or applied mathematics.

The awards are associated with the respective ICIAM congresses
held every four years under the auspices of the Council.
The 2023 prizes will be awarded during the Opening Ceremony
of the 10th International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ICIAM 2023),
which will take place at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan, August 20-25, 2023.

Please note that CAIMS/SCMAI is a full member of ICIAM.

4. CAIMS/SCMAI can nominate candidates for the ICIAM 2027 Scientific Planning Committee

CAIMS/SCMAI, as a full member of ICIAM, can nominate
candidates for the ICIAM 2027 Scientific Planning Committee (SPC).
The ICIAM 2027 Congress will take place in The Hague, July 12-17, 2027.

As required by the By-laws of ICIAM, the SPC should be balanced with
respect to geography, discipline and gender.

You can find the list of members of past SPCs at
https://iciam.org/scientific-programme-committees
You can also find the list of past invited speakers at
https://iciam.org/invited-speakers
These give a good idea of the variety and scientific scope of ICIAM and its congresses.

Please send your proposals for possible members of the SPC of ICIAM 2027
by e-mail to our Past President, Thomas Hillen (thillen@ualberta.ca),
who will forward them to ICIAM.
