1. Please renew your CAIMS*SCMAI membership for 2024
Please support Applied and Industrial Mathematics in Canada
by renewing your membership to CAIMS*SCMAI.
Note that CAIMS*SCMAI memberships are for the calender year,
unless they are lifetime.
So, unless your membership is lifetime, or unless you renewed very recently, your membership has expired.

2. Call for candidates in the CAIMS*SCMAI 2024 elections, deadline 31-01-2024
CAIMS*SCMAI will be holding its 2024 elections in March-April 2024.
The open positions are
+ Communications Officer (duration 3 years)
+ Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Membership (EDIM) Officer (duration 3 years)
+ Two Board Members-at-Large (duration 3 years each)
All members of CAIMS*SCMAI are invited to put forward names of candidates for these offices. Applications should reach the CAIMS*SCMAI Secretary, Christina Christara (secretary@caims.ca) by January 31, 2024.
Once you express interest for a position, you will be asked to provide a short statement (half a page bio and similar information) and a picture of yourself.
3. Looking for old CAIMS*SCMAI newsletters, your help is needed
In an effort to archive the history of CAIMS*SCMAI,
we plan to collect all old CAIMS*SCMAI newsletters,
scan and place them on our website.
Currently, all newsletters from 2004 till today (vols 59-78) are electronic and already available in
https://caims.ca/e-news_archive/
We managed to collect hard-copies of many older (including the inaugural) CAIMS*SCMAI newsletters, but we are missing some.
More specifically, we are missing

4. The 25th Canadian Symposium on Fluid Dynamics, during CAIMS*SCMAI meeting 2024
The 25th Canadian Symposium on Fluid Dynamics (CSFD) will be held during the 2024 CAIMS*SCMAI Annual Meeting,
in Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, June 24-27, 2024.
This will be a special edition, since CSFD will celebrate its 50th anniversary.
The organizers of the 25th CSFD are:

5. Faculty position: Queen’s University, deadline Feb 10, 2024
The Stephen J.R. Smith Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science and
the Faculty of Arts and Science at Queen’s University
invite applications for a Joint Appointment in Engineering Mathematics.
This is a tenure-track teaching-focused faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with specialization in Mathematics and Engineering.
The preferred start date for the appointment is July 1, 2024.
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline by the start date of the appointment.
