Message from President of CAIMS/SCMAI about Racism

A message from the President and President-Elect of the Canadian Applied and Industrial Mathematical Society/ Société Canadienne de Mathématiques Appliquée et Industrielle (CAIMS/SCMAI) about Racism

We are shocked and saddened at the repeated occurrences of racism in North America. CAIMS condemns all forms of racism and we are committed to be welcoming and supportive of all, without regard to race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation!

Many CAIMS members are active in building bridges, removing fences, and opening the society as much as possible. These efforts are critical, and we must both continue and expand this work, as it seems that we will always be challenged by bias and preconceptions.  Our goal is a society that is just, open, and safe for everyone – there is no alternative.

Thomas Hillen (President)
