First International Women in Mathematics Day May 12 2019

May 12, 2019 is the First International Women in Mathematics day.

There are hundreds of events happening world-wide throughout the month of May, including several in Canada. For more information see the official Women in Mathematics website.

The date chosen to celebrate Women in Mathematics is the birthday of Professor Maryam Mirzakhani.   In 2014, Prof. Mirzakhani became the first woman to be awarded the prestigious Fields Medal, a top honour in Mathematics.
